Pawtucket Falls is seeking a reliable and skilled Cook to join our dietary team, a long-term care and rehabilitation center located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Cook plays a vital role in preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents in accordance with their dietary restrictions and physician-ordered meal plans. This position ensures that residents receive meals that are safe, appealing, and served on schedule in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Prior experience as a Cook, preferably in a nursing home, hospital, or healthcare setting.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pureed).

  • ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and diet orders.

  • Ensure food is handled, stored, and prepared in compliance with Department of Health and facility sanitation standards.

  • Assist in menu planning and ensure proper portion control and presentation.

  • Coordinate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to maintain smooth meal service.

  • Monitor food and supply inventory; report shortages or equipment issues promptly.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, storage, and food prep areas.

  • Follow safety and infection control procedures at all times.

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives.
