Job Title: Building Substitute Teacher

Location: Campus

Job Type: Part-Time, Salaried

Reports To: Head of School


Job Summary:

As a Building Substitute Teacher, you will contribute to the education and well-being of our students. You will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity in the classroom during the absence of regular teaching staff. You will also provide support by completing various elementary duties and supporting teachers in the classroom.

  • Exhibits a clear commitment to Christian Education and a wholehearted embrace of CSAGH's vision. 
  • Self-motivated, dynamic, well-organized, and adaptable individual with a genuine desire to connect with, nurture, and minister to children.
  • Proficient in educational best practices and effective teaching methods, with the ability to engage and build trust and rapport with learners.
  • Cultivates healthy and positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration. 
  • Willingness to participate in professional development and training as required.


Key Responsibilities:

1) Classroom Management:

  • Effectively manage classroom dynamics and ensure a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Implement and follow lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher.

2) Instructional Delivery:

  • Deliver instructional material as outlined in lesson plans, maintaining engagement, and addressing student questions.

3) Student Support:

  • Provide additional support to students as needed.
  • Address student concerns and inquiries with empathy and understanding.

4) Adherence to Policies:

  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Report any incidents or issues to the school administration promptly.

5) Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with school staff, including administrators and fellow teachers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a seamless transition during the teacher's absence.

6) Flexibility:

  • Adapt to different teaching styles, grade levels, and subjects as required.
  • Be available for short-notice assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

7) Professionalism:

  • Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education required.
  • Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure, or willingness to obtain, required.
  • Previous experience in teaching children preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and effective teaching practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in educational technology for instructional purposes.
  • Classroom management skills and effective behavior intervention strategies.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to stand, sit, move around the classroom for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.
