Working as one focused team, the orthopedic, spine, and sports medicine experts of Salem Hospital develop effective and personalized treatment plans for our patients. We offer our patients world-class care in a supportive and convenient location, close to home and family. We use the most advanced technology available to diagnose and treat orthopedic conditions including advanced MRI, robotic surgery, and orthobiologics to help our patients reach their full potential.
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Physician Assistant to join our General Orthopedics team at our practices located at 100 Cummings Center, Suite 136P in Beverly, MA and 4 Centennial Drive, Peabody, MA. This role is heavily outpatient and clinic based. The PA will work in a highly collaborative environment with strong physician support. We are open to highly driven, entry-level talent for this role as well as highly seasoned providers.
Schedule & Setting
• Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
• 40 hours/week (36 clinical / 4 administrative)
• Outpatient clinic setting
• No inpatient rounding required
• Call responsibility: 1 in 9 scheduling with opportunity to swamp with peers
Clinical Responsibilities
• Provide outpatient orthopedic care across subspecialties as needed
• Evaluate and manage approximately 16 patients per day, including new patients, post-operative follow-ups, and established visits
• Perform in-office procedures including joint injections and reductions using local anesthesia
• Participate in surgical assist days, depending on assigned subspecialty
• Work within a developing pod model, pairing two PAs per surgeon to enhance continuity and support

Job Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
