Job Summary: 

We are seeking a results-driven, highly organized Search Marketing Manager to lead the growth and optimization of our search marketing efforts. You’ll oversee and partner with our digital marketing agency to ensure that Brand, Paid Search, and Shopping campaigns are optimized for sales growth and customer acquisition across the Google and Microsoft platforms. Additionally, you’ll oversee our search engine optimization efforts, partnering with the ecommerce and web technology teams to ensure Christianbook’s technical and content-driven SEO efforts meet best-practices standards. 

The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, strong experience working with an agency to manage paid search marketing, and solid understanding of SEO fundamentals and best practices. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners and agencies to align campaigns and tactics with broader marketing goals while driving business alignment, efficiency, and financial results.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Search Marketing

  • Partner with agencies and internal teams in the development and execution of search marketing campaigns
  • Monitor campaign and channel performance and provide regular reporting on engagement, acquisition, and KPIs 
  • Optimize tactics and campaigns based on data and results
  • Increase website traffic and revenue from paid search
  • Improve conversion rates and ROI from marketing spend 
  • Test and refine tactics and campaigns to maximize results
  • Stay current on changing platform capabilities and industry best practices, including AI-driven tactics and strategies, and incorporate into the overall Christianbook search strategy

Search Engine Optimization 

  • Improve search rankings and visibility
  • Manage Google Search Console to promptly address impactful errors and issues that may arise
  • Increase website traffic and revenue from organic search
  • Partner with ecommerce and merchandising teams to implement organic search strategies across key categories and customer segments
  • Stay current on SEO best practices, including AI-driven tactics and strategies, and incorporate into the Christianbook roadmap and plans

Performance Tracking & Analysis

  • Track KPIs (CPA, ROI, conversion, etc.) and optimize campaigns to maximize business performance
  • Generate periodic reports to assess search program health and identify areas for optimization
  • Conduct A/B tests and evaluate new partners, tactics, creative, offer structures, and/or landing page strategies
  • Track budgets to ensure financial performance targets across campaigns are met

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with external agencies as well as internal Marketing, Ecommerce, Merchandising, and Analytics teams to align on goals and deliver integrated campaigns
  • Share insights and reports with leadership to guide strategy and investment decisions

Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3–5+ years of experience in paid search marketing, with a proven track record of managing agency relationships to deliver successful campaigns
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Commerce or related field; MBA a plus.
  • Comfortable managing budgets, campaigns, and data-driven strategy
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret campaign and customer data and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple marketing channels and platforms in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with a high degree of accountability and ownership 
  • Familiarity with channel attribution models and performance marketing analyses in an omnichannel business

Preferred

  • Experience in a direct-to-consumer (DTC) or omnichannel retail environment.
  • Affinity with and understanding of Christian consumers, institutions, and homeschoolers
