Are you passionate about cooking and making a difference for students? We are looking for a dependable, experience Kitchen Lead/ Cook to join our school food service team in the Stafford Twp. NJ area. Monday through Friday, 7am to 1 pm daily. This hands-on leadership role is ideal foe someone who enjoys cooking, staying organized, and working in a fast-paced school kitchen.

Position Summary:

The Kitchen Lead is the primary point person in the kitchen, preparing nutritious meals for students for two schools while overseeing the daily flow of food service operations. This position requires excellent cooking skills, organization teamwork, and the ability to lead by example.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch for students.
  • Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Lead daily kitchen operations and serve as the primary kitchen contact.
  • Complete required production records and other food service documentation.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist with menu planning and recipe development.
  • Work collaboratively with the food service team to provide high-quality meals.

Qualifications:

  • Previous commercial, restaurant, institutional, or school cooking experience preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen is a plus.
  • Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system or willingness to learn.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to lift, stand, and perform the physical duties of a commercial kitchen.
