The Foreman-Production provides supervision and coordinates activities of production operations for the company.  Implements and administers company policies and procedures as delegated by management.  Overseas and directs the daily inspection, monitoring and operation of oil and gas leases.   This role provides direct supervision of lease operators and field technicians, coordinates maintenance and optimization activities, and serves as the primary link between field operations, engineering, midstream, and regulatory teams. The Production Foreman ensures production targets are met while maintaining strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise day-to-day production operations for assigned wells, facilities, and infrastructure. Manages all aspects of the production operations for specified geographic area.  
  • Monitor well performance, production volumes (oil, gas, water), and equipment uptime.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production issues including downtime, flow restrictions, artificial lift failures, and surface equipment problems.
  • Coordinate well startups, shut-ins, restarts, and production changes.
  • Performs typical responsibilities of management such as requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and coaching. 
  • Work is reviewed to ensure competency in meeting stated goals and objectives.
  • Selects, mentors, and develops production employees and provides direction on well allocation schedule and workload.  Responsible for evaluating and disciplining assigned production personnel and/or effectively recommending such actions.
  • Acts as first level contact with contractors, vendors and other outside agencies.
  • Maintains high quality relationships with land owners and contractors.
  • Acts as liaison between the field production operations staff and the Production Superintendent.
  • Provides guidance and direction in identifying and troubleshooting areas of concern.
  • Ensures Vital Energy employees and contractors adhere to Company, State, and Federal and Local rules, regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrates safe and ethical behavior at all times. 
  • Working knowledge of artificial lift systems (ESP, rod pump, gas lift, plunger lift).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in engineering field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years oilfield experience including 5 years of supervisory experience as a foreman, assistant foreman or equivalent. (Bachelor’s degree in a technical field may be counted towards some of the experience required.)
  • Detailed knowledge of production operations and expertise in artificial life methods.
  • Effective project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software  (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees in the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, and trucks and like equipment. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines and under all weather conditions. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level.  Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 75 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time, but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain.
