Job Summary:

The Distribution Compliance Specialist is a hands-on operational role responsible for executing daily cannabis distribution compliance activities. This position focuses on the accurate tracking, documentation, and reporting of product movement, maintaining compliant records in METRC and ERP systems, and ensuring distribution activities are completed in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements. The role is embedded in distribution operations and is accountable for keeping data accurate, inventory movements compliant, and records audit-ready at all times.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Execute day-to-day distribution compliance activities in accordance with local, state, and federal cannabis regulations.
  • Perform hands-on tracking of cannabis product movement from manufacturing through distribution to licensed customers.
  • Enter, reconcile, and maintain accurate product movement, inventory, and shipment data in METRC and applicable ERP systems.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records for all incoming and outgoing shipments, including shipping manifests, chain of custody documentation, invoices, and compliance certificates.
  • Communicate directly with internal teams (production, logistics, sales) to resolve compliance-related distribution issues.
  • Maintain compliance data integrity within ERP and track-and-trace systems by ensuring all transactions are entered accurately and timely.
  • Perform routine reconciliations between physical inventory, ERP records, and METRC data.
  • Follow established corporate SOPs to maintain regulatory compliance and operational consistency.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience performing hands-on compliance or inventory tracking work in a regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, and reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and track-and-trace platforms (e.g., METRC).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring operational tasks and deadlines.
  • Practical problem-solving skills focused on identifying and resolving execution-level issues.
  • Clear, direct communication skills oriented toward operational coordination.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Commitment to consistency, accountability, and regulatory accuracy.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma, GED, or bachelor's degree in business, compliance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a compliance role within a regulated industry (e.g., cannabis, food, pharma, alcohol, etc.) – preferred.
  • Experience working with cannabis track-and-trace systems (e.g., METRC) and ERP systems for distribution and compliance.
  • Knowledge of state and federal cannabis distribution regulations, particularly in delivery requirements, packaging/labeling, and record retention.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Capable of repetitive hand and arm motions as well as extended periods of typing.
  • Capable of looking at a screen for extended periods or entire shifts.
  • Some travel may be required to attend cross-functional team meetings or support product launch events.

Work Schedule (Non-Exempt):

This position is scheduled on a full-time basis. Specific shift times and workdays are determined by the operation and may vary by location. Business needs may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overtime. Scheduled start and end times, assigned shifts, and workdays are subject to change based on staffing and operational requirements. Whenever feasible, advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.
