Role Summary

Mechanical Test Technician – Supports factory testing and validation of the Secondary Fluid Network (SFN) used in the Vertiv SmartRun platform.

This hands-on role focuses on testing prefabricated liquid-cooling piping assemblies and manifolds before shipment. The technician prepares systems for testing by connecting circulation equipment, filling coolant loops, purging air, flushing piping, and verifying system integrity according to approved procedures.

The role works closely with electrical test technicians during integrated system testing and helps ensure SmartRun liquid cooling infrastructure meets factory quality and performance standards prior to delivery.

This position is ideal for technicians with experience in hydronic systems, plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, or industrial fluid systems who enjoy hands-on mechanical work in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support factory testing of SmartRun Secondary Fluid Network (SFN) piping assemblies
  • Connect and configure test hoses, pumps, and circulation equipment to piping manifolds
  • Take part in FAT’s (factory acceptance tests) 
  • Perform system fill, coolant circulation, flushing, and air purge operations
  • Verify proper operation of manifolds, valves, and fluid distribution piping
  • Inspect prefabricated piping assemblies for cleanliness, leaks, and build 
  • Monitor system conditions during test including flow, pressure, and circulation
  • Document test results and confirm systems meet factory quality standards
  • Coordinate with electrical test technicians during integrated system testing
  • Maintain a safe, organized test area and properly handle glycol-based coolant solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical systems, plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, hydronics, or industrial piping
  • Hands-on experience working with:
    • piping systems and manifolds
    • pumps or fluid circulation equipment
    • valves, fittings, and hoses
    • coolant or water-based systems
  • Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, piping diagrams, and test procedures
  • Basic familiarity with electrical control systems used in testing environments
  • Strong safety awareness when working around pressurized fluid systems and electrical equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with liquid cooling systems or hydronic cooling loops
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure or thermal management systems
  • Experience performing system flushing, air purge, and coolant circulation
  • Experience with glycol/water coolant solutions
  • Background in manufacturing test, equipment validation, or commissioning
  • Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or pipefitting certification, or equivalent hands-on experience
