The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing, assembling, and verifying mechanical components from intake through shipment.
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience using hand tools and power tools (drills, impact wrenches, torque wrenches, etc.), the ability to read blueprints, and strong mechanical aptitude.
Note: This is a non‑air‑conditioned manufacturing environment.
- Maintain a positive, solutions‑focused attitude supporting plant goals for safety, reliability, quality, and performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to assemble mechanical components using hand tools, torque wrenches, and other equipment.
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and material-handling equipment to move components throughout the facility.
- Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting, document corrective actions, and resolve assembly-related issues.
- Collaborate with team members to overcome production challenges and meet daily output targets.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks and support engineering or electrical teams as needed.
- Maintain accurate production and assembly records, including completed parts and quantities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Prior experience using hand tools and operating forklifts
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and safe work practices
- Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field
- Experience or certification operating overhead cranes
- Previous mechanical fitting experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Mounting experience (bonus)
- Ability to routinely lift 50+ lbs and transport materials as needed
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing
- Manual dexterity to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Ability to work in indoor/outdoor environments with temperatures that may exceed 100°F or fall below 32°F
- Exposure to standard industrial environmental elements
