Position Summary:

As a Lead Dental Assistant at NHOMS & MassOMS you will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the dental assisting team, ensuring adherence to high standards of patient care, sterilization procedures, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills and a thorough understanding of oral surgical procedures with experience in sedations. The Lead Dental Assistant will also assist in providing training and mentorship to junior staff, and maintain a positive and efficient workflow. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for fostering a collaborative environment and enhancing patient satisfaction. A minimum of 3-5 years of dental assisting experience, along with certification from an accredited dental assistant program is required.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •  Assist chairside proficiently during a diverse range of oral surgical procedures, including those involving sedation.
  •  Prepare, break down, disinfect, and sterilize treatment rooms and instruments to maintain optimal hygiene standards.
  •  Ensure strict compliance with infection control, CDC, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations, guaranteeing a safe and secure environment for both patients and staff.
  •  Provide patients with comprehensive care instructions to enhance their overall experience and recovery.
  •  Maintain accurate and thorough patient charting for effective record-keeping and continuity of care.
  •  Lead and motivate a dedicated team of dental assistants, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. Provide training, mentorship, and support to enhance individual and collective performance.
  •  Implement and uphold quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, infection control measures, and best practices in oral surgery.
  •  Efficiently manage resources, including equipment, supplies, and staffing, to optimize productivity and cost-effectiveness. 


Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

  •  A strong motivation to learn, coupled with a genuine passion for healthcare and direct patient care.
  •  Previous experience in sedation showcasing a solid foundation in oral surgery is a requirement for this position
  •  Familiarity with Open Dental is preferred.
  •  Proficiency in basic computer applications such as email and Microsoft Office is necessary.
  •  The role may require occasional travel, and candidates should be willing to accommodate such needs.
  •  Demonstrated follow-through, effective communication skills, and reliability are indispensable qualities for success in this role.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • CPR certification is required to ensure readiness in emergency situations.
  • Radiology certification, ensuring proficiency in capturing diagnostic images.
  • Massachusetts Dental Assistant License, meeting state regulatory requirements.
  • NH MedTech (for NH Assistants only).
  • DAANCE certification is preferred, or the ability to achieve it within 6 months of hire, indicating a commitment to professional development in dental anesthesia and sedation.
  • Proven experience in a lead dental assistant or clinical coordinator role is mandatory.
