POSITION OVERVIEW:

Maintain daily objectives associated with overseeing the Inventory Control Department and ensure that work goals are being met in a timely and effective manner.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for all inventory control issues within the department for all purchased products, purchased commodities, stored commodities, and USDA commodity product.
  • Responsible for executing the daily activities within the assigned department.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy of warehouse items daily.
  • Ensure that all inventory control assistants complete daily responsibilities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Direct the daily cycle counting program.
  • Identify inventory control process deficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Coordinate yearly physical inventory with the accounting department.
  • Handle increased responsibility above normal duties as activity demands.
  • Research all inventory deviations and immediately correct any discrepancies.
  • Control, manage, and track the receipt rotation and movement of all inventories in all locations.
  • Review and monitor all inventory status reports.
  • Research and resolve escalated inventory problems as they arise in a timely manner.
  • Work in conjunction with all departments necessary to correct inventory discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the accounting and receiving departments on any product delivery returns, damages and/or discrepancies.
  • Correct any daily problems that arise within the department.
  • Always present a professional image and attitude.
  • Communicate to the SVP of Operations and Warehouse Managers of any concerns or problems that might arise.
  • Complete all floor moves accurately and immediately.
  • Review the results of cycle counts and ascertain the reasons for variances and take corrective actions to eliminate future problems.
  • Direct the workflow, motivate, and monitor the Inventory Control Department to ensure the completion of daily duties in an accurate manner.
  • Monitor work processes of the Inventory Control Department and make suggestions to the Warehouse Managers for modifications to increase and improve productivity, efficiency, and accuracy to reduce costs. 
  • Troubleshoot assigned department processes to identify weaknesses and recommend policy changes to the Warehouse Managers to strengthen department controls and set priorities for the department.
  • Physical counts must be done as needed.
  • Complete Daily Sales Order Bin/PU Load List in timely fashion.
  • Item Bin Comparison needs to be done daily and resolve any discrepancies immediately.
  • Make on-hand inventory adjustments to the computer system as needed.
  • Direct the flow of damaged product weekly.
  • Ensure that the rotation of inventory is occurring properly.
  • Ensure that food bank donations are moved periodically before they overflow.
  • Run and review reports daily to correct inventory discrepancies.
  • Reply to any request in a timely fashion.
  • Must be able to hold a flexible schedule.
  • Maintain good attendance and be reliable.


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex Problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Familiarity with warehouse equipment
  • Works well with others.
  • The ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Degree in business, management, logistics or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe quality food (SQF) OTHER DUTIES:
