Job DetailsJob Location: Corporate Address - Peninsula, OH 44264JOB TITLE: Hardscape Crew Leader REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt  POSITION RESULTS STATEMENT: The Hardscape Crew Leader leads the day-to-day installation of residential and commercial hardscape projects while directing and developing a crew of 2–4 technicians. This position is responsible for producing high-quality workmanship, maintaining jobsite safety, training crew members, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and according to design specifications. The Hardscape Crew Leader works closely with the Field Supervisor and Landscape Designer to coordinate project execution, resolve field challenges, and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. This position is expected to work 5–6 days per week and 40+ hours depending on seasonal workload.   JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the daily installation of residential and commercial hardscape projects. Direct and supervise the day-to-day activities of a crew of 2–4 employees while promoting a safe, productive, and positive work environment. Train, mentor, and develop crew members on proper installation techniques, equipment operation, safety procedures, and company quality standards. Read and interpret landscape plans, construction drawings, grades, elevations, and layout details. Coordinate daily project activities with the Field Supervisor and Landscape Designer to ensure projects meet design intent, quality expectations, and production schedules. Communicate project progress, material needs, change orders, and field challenges to the Field Supervisor. Operate and safely maintain equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, compact track loaders, plate compactors, trenchers, power wheelbarrows, cut-off saws, and other landscape construction equipment. Utilize hand and power tools including masonry saws, concrete saws, demolition hammers, compactors, laser levels, drills, grinders, chainsaws, and other construction equipment. Install paver patios, walkways, driveways, permeable pavement systems, steps, landings, and edging. Construct segmental retaining walls, natural boulder walls, seat walls, columns, and other structural hardscape features. Install outdoor living features including fire pits, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, lighting, drainage systems, and water features. Perform excavation, grading, base preparation, compaction, drainage installation, and site preparation to ensure long-lasting installations. Dig trenches and excavations for drainage, utilities, footers, lighting, and landscape construction. Load, unload, and transport construction materials, equipment, and plant material safely. Install trees, shrubs, perennials, and finishing landscape elements as required to complete projects. Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites while ensuring compliance with company safety policies. Forecast labor, equipment, and material needs to support efficient project completion. Complete projects on schedule while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. Assist with snow operations or other seasonal duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 4–5 years of experience leading hardscape installation or landscape construction crews. Demonstrated experience installing paver systems, retaining walls, drainage systems, outdoor living spaces, and other hardscape features. Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and hold crew members accountable. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grades, elevations, and project specifications. Thorough knowledge of hardscape construction methods, materials, equipment, and safety practices. Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, compact equipment, and construction tools. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with Field Supervisors, Landscape Designers, customers, and fellow team members. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including lifting up to 80 pounds and performing repetitive bending, kneeling, digging, and material handling. Willingness to work 40–50+ hours per week based on seasonal business demands. Â
