Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the site’s engineering functions, including Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Shop, Facilities, Utilities, and Capital Projects. This role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and capital project execution while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, the Engineering Manager develops and executes engineering strategies that improve asset performance, support manufacturing operations, and achieve business objectives while building and leading a high-performing engineering organization focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the site's engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives, operational priorities, and long-term growth plans.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Engineering organization, including Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Shop, Facilities and Utilities, fostering a high-performing culture built on accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.  Ability to lead teams of 5 – 10 technical personnel and technical organizations of at least 20 – 30 people.
  • Establish and continuously improve preventive, predictive and reliability-centered maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability, reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Drive equipment reliability by leading root cause investigations, implementing sustainable corrective actions, and applying engineering best practices to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Ensure engineering services effectively support production, quality, safety and customer requirements while maintaining high equipment performance and asset reliability.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, automation, digital manufacturing, energy efficiency, waste reduction and operational excellence.
  • Manage the execution of capital projects from concept development through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification and operational handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop engineering justifications, business cases, capital investment proposals and project budgets that support the site's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS and Global Engineering to successfully deliver engineering initiatives and business support.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable GMP, regulatory, quality, safety,  and company standards.
  • Demonstrates a proactive safety culture by ensuring engineering operations comply with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and by promoting safe work practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  •  10 – 15 years of Engineering experience within an industrial manufacturing settings, with at least  5 years of demonstrated success in an Engineering leadership role within manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing Maintenance, Engineering, Facilities and Engineering Project.
  • Demonstrated success managing capital investment projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical, medical device or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and management skills.
