Job Description:

Summary

The Library Associate is responsible for the customer services aspect of library services.  This includes supporting the interviewing, scheduling, training, and supervising student workers. Other duties include staffing the circulation desk as needed, maintaining the physical space by putting in service requests and ordering supplies. The Library Associate will also support the administrative needs of the FDLI department.

Compensation for the Associate- Library Services is $19.73 - $22.69 an hour.

Essential Functions

  • Provide excellent customer service in the library. 
  • Perform circulation and shelving services. 
  • Provided support for scheduling and training library student workers, helping maintain smooth daily operations.
  • Instruct and aide patrons in the use of library materials, printers/copiers, computer systems, and other technology. 
  • Provide non-research related information to students, staff, and faculty as needed. 
  • Assist users in obtaining materials via intra-library and interlibrary loan. 
  • Assist staff in collecting data and assembling data for reports. 
  • Support Library events or programs in collaboration with other departmental staff.  
  • Support FDLI operations by anticipating and managing IT, maintenance, and purchasing requests. 
  • Perform related duties as required. 

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • One (1 year) of experience in an office environment or customer service role.
  • Ability to lift up to 25Ilbs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within a supervisory role.
  • Experience working in a library.
  • Research experience, particularly with library databases.
  • Experience in data collection and organization.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn about dedicated Library and college systems.
