Job DetailsJob Location: PEORIA PLAYHOUSE - PEORIA, IL 61603Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $17.00 - $18.00 HourlyDUTIES: Under the general supervision of Visitor and Member Engagement Manager and Exhibits Manager, Operations Coordinator is responsible for: Act as the primary Manager-on-Duty, fill in in other floor staff roles as needed. Rotate working Weekends as MOD with other office staff. Attend office staff meetings, all staff meetings, Real Tools meetings, and MOD meetings. Supervise part-time floor staff (Playologists, Maker Playologists, Admissions Attendants, volunteers and interns) in the following areas: Assist in hiring, training, and performance reviews Encourage and implement cross training Oversee weekly exhibit detailing with floor staff Ensure part-time floor staff maintains a high level of customer service Ensure part-time floor staff complete daily tasks Monitor cleaning supplies and communicate supply needs to full-time staff. Conduct weekly water table maintenance and oversee staff and volunteers for weekly Exhibit Maintenance. Monitor front desk supplies, replenish membership and other forms, and communicate other supply needs to full-time staff. Assist with greeting of groups, payment processing, membership processing, etc. Make customer service decisions as needed while maintaining outstanding customer service practices and standards. Oversee daily operations by completing interior and exterior walk-throughs during the day, ensuring a safe and clean museum environment, troubleshooting of exhibit problems, and record exhibition problems as needed. Ensure a smooth and organized delivery of all museum offerings, create and communicate daily agenda to staff.  Opening and closing procedures for museum - operating alarm system, preparing safe, cash drawers and registers for the business day. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program. Demonstrate commitment to museum values and goals of excellence in learning, equality, collaboration and customer service. Perform all other duties as assigned.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                       The work requires periodic physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials typical of the hospitality industry.  Prolonged standing, bending, stooping and ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds are required on a periodic basis.  Must have the ability to manipulate keyboard, phone, and cash machines. Must be able to bend at waist and knees in order to file and stock. QualificationsEducation: High school degree/GED required. Some college preferred. Degree in Education, Art, or Early Childhood Development a plus. Will accept a combination of education and experience if it is closely related to job skills needed for the position.   Experience: One year of experience in an office setting required, preferably in a museum or non-profit institution.  Must have experience or interest in working with children and families in a highly diverse informal educational setting. Knowledge and Ability: Must have excellent customer service, problem solving and organizational skills. Knowledge of computers and phones as needed for office work, including knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate clearly with others in person and over the phone. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a minimal degree of supervisory oversight. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Ability to interact effectively and respectfully with adults as well as children of all ages. Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers Personal: Must be people oriented. Must continually demonstrate a customer-friendly personality while performing all duties in a manner that demonstrates reliability, initiative, tact, and resourcefulness. Must be able to interact effectively and respectfully with children of all ages and adults. Must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to learning and innovation. Available to work days, weekends, and some evenings and holidays.
