Job description:

The following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time and without advance notice. Management may assign new duties, reassign existing duties, or eliminate a function.

  • Prepare and review detailed credit approval memorandums for complex lending relationships, including formulation of approval recommendation, structural enhancements, and risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Lead and develop an assigned team of Credit Analysts to efficiently support underwriting and loan decisioning in conformity with the Bank’s policies and service level agreements.
  • Manage the ongoing development, coaching and onboarding of junior staff, fostering strong analytical capabilities, sound credit judgement, and supporting career growth within the organization. 
  • Review and optimize the quality and consistency of staff underwriting and financial analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to internal credit policy, regulatory guidance, and sound banking practices while supporting prudent and consistent credit decisions. 
  • Administer departmental workflows and pipeline activities to ensure timely, accurate, and service oriented delivery of loan originations, renewals, modifications, reviews and other related actions.    
  • Facilitate direct collaboration with commercial lenders, credit administration staff and loan operations teams to enhance communication, efficiency, and client responsiveness throughout the credit process.
  • Utilize independent judgement in recommending credit actions and solutions, including approvals, modifications, structural changes, and risk rating adjustments.
  • Exercise independent credit approval authority as granted commensurate with experience and established lending policy guidelines.
  • Engage in regular contact with commercial lenders, loan administrators, and other bank team members, as well as borrowers and accountants when requested.

  • Comply with all applicable regulations and Bank policies regarding employment and employment law.
  • Participate in annual compliance and other job-related training.
  • Comply with applicable banking regulations, Bank policies and all procedures.
  • Comply with Bank’s internal privacy and ethics standards.


 

Education and Experience

  • BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in credit analysis, lending, portfolio management, risk review, or credit management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience training/mentoring other credit analysts preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced commercial credit expertise with a demonstrated track record of analyzing complex CRE, C&I and construction lending relationships.
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking principles, loan structuring, credit risk management, regulatory expectations, and sound underwriting practices.
  • Proven ability to evaluate complex financial statements, tax returns, borrowing structures, collateral valuations, and diverse sources of repayment to support informed credit decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities, with experience mentoring analysts and fostering a collaborative, high-performing credit culture. 
  • Strong organizational and workflow management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize competing deadlines in a relationship driven commercial banking environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Bank’s credit policy, products and services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an ability to quickly adapt to evolving banking technologies, credit systems, and workflow platforms. 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Working Conditions

Traditional office environment with the ability to work remotely on a hybrid basis; the office maintains five day a week operations (Monday – Friday) with operational hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. Must be willing to travel to other Bank locations as needed.
