Wastewater Operations Supervisor

Are you a licensed wastewater professional ready to lead a team, improve plant performance, and make an impact on your community? We're seeking an experienced Wastewater Operations Supervisor to oversee treatment plant operations, develop employees, and drive a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

In this leadership role, you will manage a team of seven wastewater operators and laboratory personnel, ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while helping develop the next generation of wastewater professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, train, and mentor a team of seven operators and laboratory personnel.
  • Oversee daily wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate operational and maintenance work to maximize plant performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with permit requirements, environmental regulations, company SOPs, OSHA standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Manage the work order management system and maintenance planning activities.
  • Prepare and review operational data, regulatory reports, and compliance documentation, including DMRs and other required submissions.
  • Troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement process improvements.
  • Support regulatory inspections and maintain positive working relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 7 years of wastewater treatment operations experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Georgia Class I Wastewater Operator License, or the ability to obtain a Georgia Class I Wastewater Operator License through reciprocity within a specified timeframe following hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, regulatory compliance requirements, and plant operations.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience managing and developing operations or laboratory personnel.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and compliance documentation.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment operations, maintenance practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and environmental permitting standards.
  • Experience preparing regulatory reports, correspondence, and operational documentation.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50-60 pounds.
  • Load, unload, and move equipment and tools.
  • Work in and around wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
  • Access confined spaces as required.
  • Walk extensively throughout the facility.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and structures regularly.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
