Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Summary

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a key role in delivering hands-on senior care, supporting residents with daily living activities, and promoting comfort, dignity, and overall well-being. Working closely with nurses and the healthcare team, PCAs help ensure exceptional care for residents in our lifecare community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
  • Support safe mobility and transfers using proper techniques
  • Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse)
  • Assist with meal support, nutrition, and hydration
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff
  • Maintain accurate electronic and written documentation
  • Provide companionship and emotional support
  • Escort residents to activities and promote engagement and quality of life
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations
  • Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality care

Qualifications

  • CPR certification required
  • Experience working with the geriatric or senior population preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and sound judgment
