Job Overview
The Hardscape Installation Technician focuses on the expert installation of boulders, stone features, and retaining walls. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with natural stone, block wall systems, grade changes, and demonstrates a strong understanding of structural integrity and design aesthetics of outdoor spaces.
Responsibilities and Duties
Construct boulder walls, natural stone features, and manufactured block retaining walls according to design plans and safety standards
Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and layout designs for hardscape projects
Operate skid steers, excavators, compactors, and other machinery relevant to grading and stone installation
Ensure proper base preparation, drainage, and structural stability of all stonework
Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure timelines, quality standards, and client expectations are met
Maintain a safe and clean work environment and comply with company safety policies
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
2+ years of experience in hardscape installation, with emphasis on boulder work and retaining wall systems (e.g., Versa-Lok, Belgard, Unilock)
Strong knowledge of drainage systems, base materials, and construction best practices
Ability to work independently and lead small crews on-site when needed
Proficient in the use of compact equipment and hand tools required for hardscape construction
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, and standing for long periods in outdoor conditions
Strong communication and organization skills
Reliable attendance and ability to work long days as project schedules require
Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions, including heat and humidity
Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License. A CDL with class C endorsement, preferred
High school diploma or equivalent qualification
