JOB GOAL: The Food Service Worker is responsible for wide range of duties in the kitchen and serving scholars during lunch time.Â

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets up kitchen, or equipment and utensils, under detailed instruction and, in accordance with specific area needs.
- Check food temperatures and/or prepares areas for daily operations; may operate cooking equipment as assigned.Â
- Convey food and supplies from the main kitchen or preparation area to the serving site either by carrying or by utilizing a motorized cart.Â
- Follow prescribed procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines and choose proper utensils and sets steam line to appropriate temperature for menu items.Â
- Serve food items to scholars from counters and/or steam tables, in accordance with specific instructions, ensuring that appropriate portions are served.
- Replenish foods, silverware, and trays at serving stations.
- Attend to daily needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
- Detect and ensure disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.Â
- Clean, wash and maintain work areas, including floors, facilities, pots, pans, service ware, utensils, and equipment.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as required.Â

Additional Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
- Set up serving area during seasonal changes.Â
- Attend meeting as assigned by Director of Food Service.
- Be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-3 years of experience in food service and training.Â
- Must obtain Serv Safe Certifications.Â
- Must complete annual certification courses
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff members on all levels.Â
- Excellent attendance record.Â
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively with others and independently. Â

Complete 10 hours of continued education credits per yearÂ
