Position Summary

The Intern- Product Development, Molecular Biodistribution will collaborate closely with Biodistribution Core personnel to isolate nucleic acids from mouse tissue samples and carry out PCR/digital PCR using established molecular methodologies. The intern will also help to develop high throughput methods to optimize work for the Core. We are looking for candidates who possess a strong foundation in biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry with a desire to learn and grow.

The Intern- Product Development, Molecular Biodistribution is based in Philadelphia and reports to the Senior Scientist, Biodistribution Lead.

Job Responsibilities

  • Process mouse tissue samples for DNA/RNA extraction.

  • Conduct high throughput dPCR using project specific primers.

  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement high throughput molecular workflows.

  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and communicate effectively with team members to ensure project goals are met.

  • Learn about different platforms for nucleic acid analysis (nanodrop, Qubit, TapeStation, QIAcuity).

  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on project progress.

  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to support cross-functional projects.

  • Follow best practices for data management and analysis.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations to share research findings.

  • Contribute ideas and suggestions for improving processes and workflows.

  • Adhere to company standards and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field

  • Must be at least a Junior in university at the time of your application

  • Solid foundational understanding of cell biology, genetics, and molecular biology principles

  • Required technical experience with pipetting and prior lab experience with basic techniques (PCR, nucleic acid extraction)

  • Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the (department) team

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Available to work full-time at the office during the summer months (May-August) at an AskBio office
