Girard College prepares its students to complete a post-secondary degree, maximizing their ability to pursue chosen careers and to be engaged citizens.     The full-time Assistant Athletic Coordinator will report to and assist the Director of Athletics with the internal operations of the athletic department. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of athletic administration, including the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques across various sports. Additionally, the candidate must foster and support a high-energy, positive team culture that aligns with the mission of the school.     Responsibilities The Assistant Athletic Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director with the internal operations of the department. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of interscholastic and intramural programming, oversight of equipment and uniform inventory, and monitoring all athletic programs to ensure they operate in the best interest of Girard College.   The Athletic Coordinator must also adhere to the policies and regulations of the Penn-Jersey Athletic Association (P.J.A.A.), the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association (M.P.A.A.), the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (P.A.I.S.A.A.), as well as the practices and procedures established by the school administration.   Required Skills: Ability to motivate, teach, and enforce sportsmanship among coaching staff and student-athletes. Strong communication skills to effectively convey team and school rules to student-athletes, coaches, families, and visiting teams. Consistently model exemplary sportsmanship. Ability to work in an educational environment and collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, and students. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods and work outdoors in inclement weather conditions. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.   Required Duties: Support internal athletic operations Coordinate transportation for athletic events Oversee game-day setup Manage referees and officials Coordinate with athletic trainers Maintain team and practice schedules Manage equipment and uniform inventory Oversee the Intramural Sports Program Maintain current health certifications (First Aid, CPR/AED) Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms before each season; collect all items at the end of the season Assist with team transportation when necessary Ensure appropriate conduct is maintained at athletic events by students, officials, and spectators Uphold non-discriminatory practices in all team and school activities Attend staff meetings as requested by the Athletic Director Qualifications A bachelor's degree is required A minimum of three years of experience in athletic administration, athletic training, or coaching at the high school, college, or professional level. Candidates must have completed the PIAA coaching education requirements at the time of hire. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with student-athletes, administration, faculty, and staff.     Hours School Year: The candidate will work from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. However, hours may vary depending on the season and the sports being played. The Athletic Coordinator is expected to be available on Saturdays and Sundays if athletic events are scheduled. Additionally, the Athletic Coordinator is required to attend all scheduled home games.   Student Summer Break: The Athletic Coordinator position is a 12-month position and is required to be present during summer.   Required Certifications: Pass FBI fingerprint check. PA child abuse history clearance. PA criminal background check. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.   References: Please be ready to provide two (2) references from previous employers as it relates to athletic administration.
