Position Overview:

We are seeking an Aviation Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide senior-level NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) aviation supply chain expertise in support of the design, architecture, and development of an AI-enabled Supply Operations Center. This role will serve as the functional bridge between NAVSUP WSS stakeholders and technical teams, helping ensure the solution reflects operational supply chain processes, decision-making, and readiness requirements. The SME will also support process improvement and enterprise architecture activities as the project evolves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aviation Supply Chain & Functional Expertise
    • Serve as the functional subject matter expert for NAVSUP WSS aviation supply operations, including material planning, buy/repair decisions, inventory positioning, Fleet support, contracting, repair, and readiness management.
    • Partner with technical SMEs at JMA and government customer organizations to design and refine the AI/ML-enabled Supply Operations Center.
    • Serve as the primary functional bridge between NAVSUP WSS operators and technical teams, ensuring the solution reflects how planners, contracting officers, engineers, and IWST stakeholders make and execute aviation supply chain decisions.
  • Process Improvement & Requirements
    • Assess current-state workflows, decision points, business rules, data dependencies, pain points, and manual workarounds to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
    • Develop and validate operational personas and target-state workflows for key Supply Operations Center users, including Supply Chain Planners, Contracting Officers, engineering personnel, and IWST leadership.
    • Translate operational requirements, decision logic, and information needs into clear user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, data specifications, and test scenarios.
  • Testing, Analytics & Solution Validation
    • Validate AI-generated insights, predictive analytics, courses of action, and model outputs against NAVSUP WSS operational processes, Navy Working Capital Fund requirements, and Fleet readiness needs.
    • Support prototype and demonstration development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), test-case development, functional defect triage, and operational KPI and readiness metric development.
  • Cross-Functional & Enterprise Architecture Support
    • Participate in structured enterprise architecture mentorship and hands-on architecture activities with a senior enterprise architect to support future architecture modeling and process transformation efforts.
    • Support related cross-functional project needs, including user story development, data validation, sprint planning, and other priorities as project requirements evolve.
    • Carry out other related duties as assigned to support evolving client, project, and company needs.

Clearance Level:

  • Current or ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance is required. Note: To obtain a security clearance, you must be a U.S. citizen and meet the 13 adjudicative guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of Navy Working Capital Fund (NWCF) supply and inventory management processes.
  • Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field. Significant relevant Navy or military experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to serve as the primary functional subject matter expert for an aviation supply chain domain while supporting related cross-functional project needs.
    • Ability to engage operational users and senior leaders, facilitate working sessions, collaborate effectively with technical teams, and translate complex supply chain operations into clear requirements.
    • Knowledge of Fleet readiness and weapon-system sustainment.
