Position Overview

Trillium Flow Technologies is seeking a Business Development Manager – Municipal Markets to drive growth for WEMCO wastewater products and Floway vertical turbine pumps throughout the Northeast.

This is a technical, hands-on business development position focused on developing aftermarket partnerships, identifying new applications, and creating new revenue streams. The role will work closely with the current Regional Manager, channel partners, customers, engineering, and factory teams.

The long-term objective is for the successful candidate to develop into a Regional Manager position, based on performance, readiness, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Regional Growth

  • Identify and develop new customers, markets, applications, and revenue opportunities.
  • Build relationships with manufacturers' representatives, service organizations, municipal customers, consulting engineers, and other industry partners.
  • Travel with and support the current Regional Manager on customer visits, sales opportunities, and channel-development activities.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to help grow WEMCO and Floway business throughout the region.
  • Identify market trends, competitive activity, and opportunities for expansion.

2. Aftermarket Partnership Development

  • Identify qualified pump repair and service companies that can become strategic aftermarket partners.
  • Evaluate potential partners based on repair capabilities, customer relationships, market coverage, and revenue potential.
  • Determine which replacement parts should be stocked locally and establish anticipated inventory turn rates.
  • Work with the factory to align inventory and stocking requirements.
  • Develop partner agreements that establish stocking expectations, annual sales targets, and performance requirements.
  • Grow recurring aftermarket parts, repair, and service revenue throughout the region.

3. New Applications & Revenue Opportunities

  • Identify new applications for WEMCO and Floway products.
  • Work with engineering to determine product compatibility and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate development of new components or product modifications when required for an application.
  • Evaluate major opportunities based on potential revenue, market size, technical feasibility, and development requirements.
  • Work with management, engineering, and operations to move qualified opportunities from concept through development and market introduction.

4. Opportunity Ownership & Execution

  • Take ownership of strategic opportunities and ensure they continue progressing through the organization.
  • Coordinate with engineering, applications, purchasing, manufacturing, project management, shipping, and other departments as needed.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that could delay an opportunity or customer response.
  • Serve as a key connection between channel partners and the factory.
  • Ensure representatives and channel partners can remain focused on customers and generating new orders rather than chasing internal updates.
  • Be willing to step outside traditional responsibilities when necessary to keep important opportunities moving forward.
  • Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirments
  • Responsible for adhering to the organization's code of conduct, time and attendance and all other company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA or BS degree in engineering, marketing, business, or related discipline 
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or technical/industrial sales  
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing sales, engineering, or technical support role is preferred 
  • 5+ years of experience with a pump manufacturer, engineered equipment manufacturer, or manufacturers' representative.
  • Technical experience with centrifugal pumps; vertical turbine pump experience strongly preferred.
  • Municipal water/wastewater market experience preferred.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and business development capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive projects across multiple departments.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to Travel 50% of the time will be required, including overnight and multiple day trips 
  • Must maintain a home office.
  • Must reside in NY, PA, NJ, CT, RI, or MA, preferably near a major commercial airport.

  • Identification and commercialization of new product applications.
  • Development of significant new revenue streams.
  • Stronger support and responsiveness for channel partners.
  • Demonstrated readiness to progress into a Regional Manager role within approximately 2–3 years.

 

Work Environment: 

The noise level in the work environment will vary. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
