Job Details

The Clinical Research Coordinator will support the day-to-day operations of extramurally funded cancer control and survivorship research conducted within the Division of Population Science, Department of Medical Oncology. The research program focuses on improving outcomes and care experiences for adults diagnosed with cancer, with an emphasis on patient-facing, clinic-based research involving cancer patients and their caregivers.

This is a predominantly on-site position, requiring regular presence in outpatient oncology and affiliated clinics at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) and Jefferson Health sites. One hybrid/remote workday per week may be available depending on project needs.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement clinical and population-based cancer control and survivorship research protocols conducted at SKCCC Center City and affiliated Jefferson clinics, as appropriate to specific studies.
  • Conduct in-person, patient-facing recruitment, participant engagement, and data collection activities in outpatient oncology and related clinical settings.
  • Screen and enroll eligible cancer patients and caregivers and obtain informed consent in accordance with approved study protocols.
  • Identify potential participants using institutional databases and the EPIC electronic health record, and coordinate recruitment activities with oncology providers, clinic staff, and research team members.
  • Approach patients and caregivers in clinic settings to explain study objectives, procedures, and participation requirements.
  • Conduct structured and semi-structured research interviews and administer quantitative and qualitative surveys.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of study data.
  • Perform data entry, cleaning, coding, and assist with preliminary analyses as needed.
  • Maintain study databases and ensure compliance with institutional policies, IRB requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with protocol submissions and amendments and prepare research reports and other required documentation as needed.
  • Support preparation of progress reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and other research-related materials.
  • Track study milestones and assist with monitoring recruitment and retention benchmarks.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with physician investigators, oncology clinic staff, and research team members across SKCCC and affiliated Jefferson Health sites.
  • Communicate effectively with cancer patients, caregivers, clinicians, and research personnel in fast-paced clinical environments.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recruitment and retention targets.
  • Comfort interacting directly with cancer patients and caregivers in clinical settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary oncology research team.
  • Experience with clinical research with cancer patients, human subjects research, or patient-facing healthcare roles preferred.
  • Educational or professional background in psychology, public health, behavioral science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred but not required.

High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree and previous experience preferred.
