About Resources for Human Development- Opportunity Place

Opportunity Place is a Community Residential Rehabilitation Residence located in the Powelton Village section of Philadelphia. The program provides a structured, recovery-oriented residential setting for adult men recovering from mental illness and housing instability.

Our goal is to help residents establish treatment and housing goals that support long-term recovery, independence, and community integration. What You'll Do

The On-call Direct support professional performs all the tasks of a Direct support professional, and are available on a on-call basis (only) to cover shifts made available by those Full Time individuals taking PTO and sick leave in order to meet mandate staffing levels based on regulatory and funder agreements.

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to adults recovering from mental illness and housing challenges.
  • Assist participants with daily living activities and recovery-oriented goals.
  • Promote independence, self-determination, and community integration.
  • Serve as a positive role model and recovery coach for residents.
  • Support participants in developing healthy coping skills and life skills.
  • Encourage participation in community activities and program services.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and respectful residential environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement individualized recovery plans.
  • Monitor resident well-being and communicate concerns to the treatment team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and program records.
  • Support program activities that help residents build confidence, stability, and independence.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with residents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Successful completion of Pennsylvania Criminal Background Clearance requirements.

Preferred:

  • Experience in residential, behavioral health, rehabilitation, or community-based services.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Schedule

  • Per Diem Opportunities Available
  • Flexible scheduling based on program needs
  • Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required
  • Residential program setting

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents as needed.
  • Ability to navigate residential and community environments.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
