Thomas Jefferson University seeks a full-time appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to serve as Program Director of Graduate Analytics Programs in the College of Business, with an anticipated start date of January 2027. The college currently offers two graduate degrees: MS (Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) and MS (Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence). The Program Director will provide academic and strategic leadership for graduate programs and related initiatives in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. This is a leadership-focused faculty role that combines teaching, program administration, and scholarship, with opportunities to shape a growing portfolio of analytics programs across the College of Business and Thomas Jefferson University.

Responsibilities:

The Program Director of Analytics Programs will provide strategic vision and leadership for the Data Analytics and Business Analytics graduate programs, ensuring alignment with the College’s broader Analytics and Artificial Intelligence initiatives. The Director will oversee curriculum development and revision to keep programs current with emerging technologies, industry needs, and accreditation standards, while managing course planning, staffing, scheduling, assessment, and potential expansion into undergraduate and new certificate or concentration offerings.

In addition to teaching graduate-level analytics courses (and potentially undergraduate courses as programs expand), the Director will mentor and advise students, fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments that support a diverse student population. The role also includes cultivating strong industry, alumni, and community partnerships to enhance experiential learning, internships, and employment opportunities, as well as leading outreach, recruitment, and program promotion efforts in collaboration with Enrollment Management and the Dean’s Office.

The Director will contribute to program branding and communications, oversee student orientation activities, and maintain an active scholarly agenda in analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, or related fields, including pursuing external funding and engaging students in research. Finally, the Director will work closely with the Dean, faculty, and staff on college-wide initiatives, participate in university governance, and promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the College of Business.

Job Description

Qualifications:
 

• Preferred: Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., D.B.A., or equivalent) in a related field
  such as Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information
  Systems, or a closely related discipline.

• Candidates with a master’s degree in a related field and significant, relevant
  industry experience in analytics, data science, or applied AI will also be
  considered.

• Demonstrated current knowledge of theoretical and applied aspects of

computing and data analysis, including areas such as: Data management and
  databases, Data science and statistical modeling, Prediction, simulation, and
  optimization. Artificial intelligence
    and machine learning. Business analytics and decision support.

• Use of relevant software and programming tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, BI tools,
  cloud platforms, etc.)

• Evidence of excellence in university-level teaching is highly preferred, including
   experience with curriculum development, experiential learning, and/or
  online/hybrid instruction.

• A strong record of scholarly or applied research in relevant areas, or a

demonstrable record of impactful industry contributions for candidates from
  practice.

• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, including experience

coordinating programs, teams, or projects.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to

collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
