Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electric Motor Winder to join our motor repair shop. In this hands-on role, you will perform full rewinding and rebuilding of AC and DC electric motors ranging from fractional horsepower to large industrial units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rewind single-phase, three-phase, and DC electric motors
  • Strip, clean, and prepare motor cores and windings
  • Install new windings, insulation, and varnish
  • Perform electrical testing (hi-pot, surge, megger, etc.)
  • Diagnose motor failures and recommend repair vs. replacement
  • Maintain detailed repair documentation
  • Occasionally perform field service work

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience rewinding electric motors
  • Strong knowledge of motor winding techniques, insulation systems, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret winding diagrams and schematics
  • Experience with both random and form coil windings is preferred
  • Familiarity with AC and DC motors up to 500+ HP
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
