Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electric Motor Winder to join our motor repair shop. In this hands-on role, you will perform full rewinding and rebuilding of AC and DC electric motors ranging from fractional horsepower to large industrial units.
Key Responsibilities
- Rewind single-phase, three-phase, and DC electric motors
- Strip, clean, and prepare motor cores and windings
- Install new windings, insulation, and varnish
- Perform electrical testing (hi-pot, surge, megger, etc.)
- Diagnose motor failures and recommend repair vs. replacement
- Maintain detailed repair documentation
- Occasionally perform field service work
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience rewinding electric motors
- Strong knowledge of motor winding techniques, insulation systems, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret winding diagrams and schematics
- Experience with both random and form coil windings is preferred
- Familiarity with AC and DC motors up to 500+ HP
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
