Samuels Seafood Company, the premier distributor of fresh and frozen seafood in the U.S., is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Inventory Assistant to join our fast-paced and dynamic team.
What You’ll Do:
Samuels Seafood Co. is seeking a dynamic HR Generalist to provide support for the 24/7 South Philadelphia distribution warehouse. In this role, you will play a crucial part in recruiting and streamlining our HR processes and supporting union and non-union operations teams. Your responsibilities will include recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance and maintenance of all HR records. Experience:
- 3+ year's experience in a human resources role, preferably in a wholesale/retail trade or similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of ADP or an equivalent HRIS for recruitment, onboarding, timekeeping, performance management, etc.
- 3+ years' experience with union and non-union operations in a 24/7 warehouse environment
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions and hiring strategies.Â
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions (exempt and non-exempt).Â
- Assists with the onboarding of new hires: conducts or acquires background checks, employee eligibility verifications, and processes new hire paperwork.
- Implements new hire orientation (including benefits overviews) and employee recognition programs.
- Processes terminations and separations.
- Assists with payroll related functions, utilizing the company’s current HRIS system.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Serves as a point of contact for the HR hotline, answering employee inquiries and escalating complex matters to the appropriate HR team members.
- Performs other administrative tasks and necessary duties as assigned.
