Job Details

Under the direction of the Operating Room Nurse Manager or Operating Room Clinical Practice Leader, the Surgical Tech Trainer functions as a member of the intraoperative healthcare team. He/she will oversee the onboarding, education, training and competency of surgical technicians. He/she will serves as the expert and consultant for all procedural areas throughout the organization related to sterile technique. He/she will collaborate with the Operating Room Clinical Practice Leader to support Peri-OP 101 training programs.

Job Description

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

  • Oversee the TJUH surgical technician training program in collaboration with MedCerts

  • Onboard new hires

  • Provide education to new and existent operating room staff (surgical techs and RNs)

  • Serve as an expert to all procedural areas regarding sterile technique

  • Provide education and training in the scrub role to the Labor & Delivery Department

  • Assist with training for the Peri-Op 101 program

  • Oversee surgical technician students from affiliated programs

  • Other duties as assigned

Aseptic technique, knowledge of various surgical procedures, proper handling of surgical instruments, ability to teach skills required of a surgical technician

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Certificate or diploma from an accredited surgical technologist program.

CST or TS-C, BLS

AND

Experience:

5 years OR experience

Previous teaching experience a plus.
