The American College of Physicians (ACP) is looking for a Manager, User Interface Design and Development to join the Digital Products and Services team. ACP, a national organization of internal medicine physicians with headquarters in Philadelphia, is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States with more than 163,000 members worldwide. This is a full-time hybrid position with 2 days in-office per week required.
The Manager, User Interface Design and Development is hands-on working manager responsible for leading and managing designers and developers in the creation of user interfaces for interactive products and applications.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage projects from concept through launch, including scope, timelines, priorities, risks, resources, and communication.
- Contribute directly to UX and UI work, including design strategy, interface design, design reviews, wire frames, prototypes, and front-end implementation.
- Establish and maintain accessible design standards, shared UI libraries, design systems, and reusable components across digital products.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers and developers, while assigning work, setting goals, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth.
- Partner with product, technology, communications, education, publishing, support, and other teams to coordinate efforts and deliver successful digital products.
- Provide guidance and oversight to developers by understanding technical requirements, implementation approaches, dependencies, and delivery considerations.
- Lead UX, UI, functional, and accessibility testing, ensuring that issues are addressed and that products, documentation, and help resources meet user and business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience
- Strong, hands-on UX and user-centered web design experience, including wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Direct front-end experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, and reusable components
- Experience managing and developing a design and UI development team
- Knowledge of web accessibility and front-end quality standards
- Ability to prioritize work and guide projects from discovery through implementation
