Role Summary

Based in Nuuly’s head office in Philadelphia, this position sits within the Photo Studio team, reporting to the Art Director. The Assistant Art Director is responsible for visually supporting and maintaining the Nuuly brand identity through product photography. This position requires frequent cross functional collaboration with the Styling and Photography teams.

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Image Selection: Work closely with the Art Director to make image dynamic and on-brand selects for product photography. Take ownership of selects and provide photography retouching notes to the internal post-production team when needed to ensure brand standards
  • On-Set Art Direction: Ability to  lead the on-set team—in-house team and freelancers—providing direction on model poses, image needs, and hair and makeup callouts. Collaborate with photographers to get dynamic poses that best showcase the product.
  • Asset Management: Ensure selects are finalized in a timely manner to ensure workflow is seamless and aligned with product priorities.
  • Creative Evolution: Continuously work with the Art Director in evolving model posing and casting direction to keep product photography fresh and engaging.
  • Project Support: Provide support on secondary projects such as creating decks, updating the model wall, inspo moodboards, research, and presentations. Effectively juggle this workload with on-set time to ensure all deadlines are met.

Role Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in arts, fashion or relevant work experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the creative department.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong portfolio that includes photo art direction. On-set shoot experience required.
  • Leadership & On-Set Experience: Proven ability to lead and direct a team successfully on set with a composed, pleasant, and confident demeanor.
  • Styling & Fashion Knowledge: Strong understanding of styling and fashion photography, including relevant industry talent, along with an understanding of hair and makeup trends.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the ability to manage workflow and communicate clearly and thoughtfully across departments.
  • Organization & Time Management: Solid organizational, detail-oriented, and file-management skills; strong time management skills, with the ability to juggle priorities amid shifting deadlines.
