Description:

Birch Agency is seeking a phlebotomist to join our team

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing. This role ensures accurate patient identification, proper specimen handling, and excellent patient care while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients of all ages

  • V erify patient identity and obtain proper consent prior to specimen collection

  • Label specimens accurately and process according to laboratory protocols

  • Prepare specimens for transport to in-house or reference laboratories

  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems

  • Follow infection control and universal precaution standards

  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazard materials

  • Maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies

  • Monitor inventory and restock as needed

  • Provide compassionate care and reassurance to patients

  • Assist with clerical duties such as scheduling and data entry when required

  • Comply with HIPAA and all regulatory guidelines
