Position: Filling Compliance Analyst Department: Regulatory & Government Affairs


Reports To: Manager of Regulatory & Government Affairs


Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to coordinate and execute the daily operations of 聽programs to manage compliance risk and ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal insurance laws on a corporate and departmental basis.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform Office work directly related to management and regulatory compliance operations of the department and employers customers.
  2. Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.聽
  3. Develop, implement and administer quality management programs to manage compliance risk and ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal insurance laws on a corporate and departmental basis.
  4. Circulate, monitor, and track compliance/regulatory literature and/or actionable items to appropriate areas as required.
  5. Provide status report on regulatory compliance to Regulatory AVP & Corp. Secretary at least every other week and monthly status report to Senior Management.
  6. Research and review State and Federal legislation and regulations in order to provide a summary as well as in depth analysis of research and evaluate impact on PLM products and 聽administrative procedures.
  7. Attend Industry Societal Meetings or Seminars in order to stay abreast of regulatory compliance matters. Prepare and provide summary documents and/or provide presentation to management advising of same (i.e. Terrorism, Privacy, Producer 聽聽聽聽聽Compensation, Asbestos, etc.). Monitor current and/or developing federal/national regulatory actions in order to ensure PLM 聽聽聽聽聽compliant and/or prepared compliance.
  8. Act as liaison between company and state insurance departments during discussions and negotiations related to compliance matters and/or rate rule and form filings.
  9. 9. Develop, assemble, file the required information and negotiate to obtain approval for:聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽a. Independently filed programs

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽b. Deviations from ISO or other bureau filings

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽c. Loss costs

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽d. New states

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽e. Recoupment聽

10. Interface with state regulators.

11. Handles all regular rates, rules and form filings with state DOI鈥檚.

12. Maintain records of the status of all filing.聽

13. Internal 聽Department Audits:

聽聽聽聽聽Implement other Resources and Tools

聽聽聽聽聽Perform Self-Audit/Identify Issues

聽聽聽聽聽Outline and Develop Corrective Actions

聽聽聽聽聽Take Corrective Actions

聽聽聽聽聽Follow-up/Monitor/Report

14. Coordinate and work as a team member with the Regulatory Manager and remainder of 聽Departmental Staff.

15. Assist in priority projects that may occur within Department.

16. Communicate with Information Systems and other Departments regarding programming changes necessary for updating systems to comply with filed program changes and state insurance statutes and regulations.

17. Assist AVP/Regulatory Manager/Corporate Secretary in Board and Annual Meetings duties as may be required.

18. Additional responsibilities include organizing and completing special projects as assigned.


Knowledge and Skills:

1. Ability to maintain professional attitude and demeanor at all times.

3. Superior organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.

4. Adept at coordinating the actions of multiple projects simultaneously.

5. Above average/Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Access and Excel.

6. Comfortable learning new software and researching on the internet.

7. Uses multiple resources and research methodologies to accomplish the task.

8. Ability to work both independently and as a team.

9. Comfortable working closely with clients, regulators, consultants and other members of the insurance community.

10. Show tact and diplomacy to interact and negotiate with regulators in person, by phone, and in writing to resolve matters that relate to our products and procedures.聽
