This role will initially focus on supporting the Research Institute's enterprise eResearch Modernization (eRM) program, one of the organization's highest-priority strategic transformation initiatives. A Brief Overview
The Senior Operational Efficiency Partner is an internal consultant providing project management and business process improvement services. This role:

• Manages a broad body of highly complex initiatives and requires the ability to adapt their style based upon the needs of the audience.
• Follows a structured, project management approach.
• Exhibits advanced skill in planning, management, organization and communication.
• Independently negotiates critical and controversial issues with leaders and project teams for the successful management and on-time delivery of programs and projects.
• Demonstrates specialized expertise in the body of knowledge, methods, and skills related to program development and process improvement.
• Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in project work.
• Trains and mentors less experienced team members.

What you will do

  • Program & Project Management
  • Manages large scale, highly complex projects as well as the scope and timelines to ensure a successful outcome.
  • Communicates relevant project plans and alternatives, including issue and risk analyses and mitigation strategies to project stakeholders.
  • Develops and monitors project budget and work plans and prepares written documentation in support of planned projects.
  • Works collaboratively with leaders to estimate project resources.
  • Improvement
  • Exhibits creativity and advanced technical skill to promote organizational transformation by advising on the planning and execution of business process improvement efforts throughout the organization.
  • Applies the organizational appropriate framework for managing improvement projects.
  • Leads collaboratively with clinical, administrative and operational leaders to implement improvements in complex environments and workstreams and uses data to drive fact-based decision making.
  • Leads end-to-end clinical operations process modeling to support documentation of interrelated systems, structures, personnel and processes.
  • Works with teams to achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Thought Partnership & Business Consulting
  • Learns what matters to stakeholders and integrates their perspectives.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of different types of organizational problems and can identify and apply appropriate methods.
  • Uses a range of methods to repeatedly communicate the vision to the people/area it impacts and adopt the change(s).
  • Conducts just in time training to support leaders in understanding and leading the responsible change.
  • Uses data to show how priorities create initial and sustained value for the organization.
  • Change Management
  • Assesses human systems to gather information about factors such as satisfaction, conflict, confusion, interest.
  • Leads a compelling vision for change and the greater good that will be accomplished.
  • Strategizes with team members to determine activities or interventions to create change in a human system.
  • Effectively engages employees in an open dialogue and other activities to address resistance and build commitment to change.
  • Develops communication strategies to support change.
  • Engages influential resisters as partners in shaping the change to help drive its robust integration.
  • Facilitation
  • Effectively builds and facilitates project teams with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Builds effective sponsorship and process ownership (Accountability).
  • Manages dysfunctional team behaviors when observed.
  • Creates safe, accessible forums for people to learn about and discuss changes with leaders.
  • Communicates comfortably to diverse audiences; adjusts style and messages to their needs; exhibits active and strategic voice with senior/ executive-level leaders.
  • Conducts just in time training to support leaders in understanding and leading the responsible change.
  • Demonstrates solid facilitation, influence and collaboration skills.
  • Building Organizational Capability
  • Plans, coordinates, and provides formal and just in time training on project and program management.
  • Demonstrates understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Provides coaching and consultation on the use of a standardized approach to improvement work.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least seven (7) years relevant experience Required and
  • At least three (3) years in Process/Quality improvement, consulting, leadership role with a focus on healthcare or relevant clinical domain Required
  • Healthcare, process reengineering, quality improvement, project/ portfolio management, business process improvement, consulting Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional work teams with no direct reporting relationship. These teams include internal employees as well as consultants and contractors.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Knowledge of organizational dynamics, change theory, reliability and safety science, improvement methods and tools, measurement and statistical process control.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills are required for the successful management of this function.
  • Demonstrates strong ability to prioritize work, excellent organizational skills and initiative to improve processes.
  • Change agent demeanor. Must be a flexible thinker, with an ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) - National Association for Healthcare Quality - - Preferred or
  • Certified Manager of Quality (CQM) - American Society for Quality (ASQ) - - Preferred or
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) - Project Management Institute (PMI) - - Preferred
