Responsibilities
What Youâll Do
The Underwriting Manager is responsible for leading the Post-Issuance Underwriting, Assistant Underwriting, and Quality Control functions within the Production Underwriting department. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of these teams, ensuring underwriting quality, consistency, and efficiency while supporting business objectives and service standards.

The Underwriting Manager works closely with Production Underwriting leadership and cross-functional partners to maintain strong quality control processes, drive continuous improvement, and ensure underwriting practices align with company guidelines and risk management objectives. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong underwriting expertise, a commitment to operational excellence, and a focus on developing high-performing teams.

This position plays a key role in supporting the overall effectiveness of the Production Underwriting organization by balancing quality, service, and productivity while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous development.
How Youâll Make an Impact
- Lead and develop the Post-Issuance Underwriting team, establishing production and quality metrics to support the review of digitally decisioned accounts.
- Oversee post-bind underwriting workflows and escalation processes, ensuring service standards are met and compliance requirements are maintained.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship to team members, supporting both individual growth and team performance.
- Conduct regular quality audits to evaluate adherence to underwriting guidelines, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the resolution of underwriting and agency concerns identified during post-bind reviews.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance quality assurance standards, audit methodologies, and review procedures.
- Perform quality audits across the broader Production Underwriting department to ensure consistency in underwriting practices and decision-making.
- Review audit findings and partner with department leadership to identify coaching opportunities, training needs, and process improvements.
- Leverage audit results and quality review data to strengthen underwriting processes, improve agency relationships, and enhance training programs.
- Analyze quality control and post-bind review results to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Prepare and present reports to underwriting leadership regarding quality performance, audit outcomes, operational effectiveness, and key findings.
- Lead and develop the Assistant Underwriting team, ensuring effective support for Production Underwriters throughout the underwriting process.
- Oversee functions including submission clearance, quote setup and data entry, information gathering, follow-up on outstanding underwriting requirements, loss control recommendations, and communication with agents regarding pending submissions and quotes.
- Collaborate with Production Underwriting leadership to enhance workflows, improve service delivery, and support departmental objectives.

Qualifications
What Youâll Bring
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent property and casualty underwriting experience.
- Prior supervisory, leadership, or team management experience preferred.
- Professional insurance designations such as AU, API, CIC, CPCU, or similar credentials are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of property and casualty underwriting principles, risk assessment practices, and underwriting procedures.
- Experience using data, reporting, and performance metrics to evaluate results and support underwriting decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience identifying, reviewing, and implementing workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.

Salary
$115,000 â 180,000 USD + bonus. Â
In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, this range represents a goodâfaith estimate. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
