The team translates complex clinical data into clear strategic direction that resonates with healthcare audiences. They collaborate closely with Strategy and Creative to ensure messaging is medically sound and insight-driven. Their work helps brands communicate value with clarity, relevance, and credibility. 

Job Description

As Vice President, Medical Strategy, this leader serves as a strategic scientific partner for pharmaceutical and life sciences clients, helping shape brand strategy, medical communications, and commercialization initiatives across the product lifecycle. Working closely with Client Services, Strategy, Creative, Medical Communications, and cross-functional teams, this role translates complex clinical evidence into actionable business and brand strategies while elevating scientific excellence across client engagements and new business opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead medical strategy across multiple pharmaceutical brands by translating clinical evidence, therapeutic landscape insights, and competitive intelligence into actionable brand strategies and client recommendations.
  • Partner with Client Services, Strategy, Creative, and Medical Communications teams to develop scientifically rigorous promotional materials, strategic initiatives, and omnichannel medical content that supports business objectives.
  • Provide scientific leadership by delivering therapeutic area expertise, conducting competitive analyses, educating cross-functional teams, and ensuring scientific quality across client deliverables and new business presentations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Medical Strategists by providing strategic guidance, mentoring, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth across client accounts.
  • Drive business growth by strengthening senior client relationships, identifying new medical strategy opportunities within existing accounts, contributing to RFP responses, and representing Klick’s scientific capabilities during new business engagements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of medical strategy experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry, including agency experience supporting commercial brands.
  • Demonstrated experience leading medical strategy for pharmaceutical brands, including therapeutic landscape assessments, scientific positioning, competitive analysis, and commercialization strategy.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing medical strategy or scientific teams, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Proven executive-level client leadership with experience presenting strategic recommendations, facilitating scientific discussions, and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD, or PharmD preferred). Candidates with an MSc or equivalent postgraduate scientific degree will be considered with an exceptional track record in medical strategy leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through scientific storytelling, executive presentations, and cross-functional influence.

Desired:

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
  • Experience supporting successful agency new business pitches, RFPs, and business development initiatives.
  • Expertise within one or more key therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, rare disease, neuroscience, cardiovascular, or specialty medicine.
  • Experience collaborating with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Strategy, and Creative teams to deliver integrated brand solutions.
  • Experience leading product launch strategy and lifecycle planning within pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations.
