Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with overnight childcare support)
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19118
Employment Type: Part-time (18-20 hours/week) + 1-2 overnight shifts weekly
Schedule: Monday–Wednesday, 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM (including 1/2 overnight shifts per week; relieved at 9:00 AM the following day), potential for additional hours on Thursdays and date nights (2x per month).
Compensation: $30–32/hour, $150 flat rate for overnight care
Start Date: ASAP

Who You Are / What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a proactive, energetic, and organized person who can handle both childcare and household management with ease. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the kids' routines, including school pickups, playtime, and bedtime, as well as helping with simple meal prep and organizing the home. Since our schedules can be unpredictable, you should be comfortable with overnight stays when needed, providing that extra level of support when parents travel or have late commitments. You’re someone who can step into the rhythm of our home, anticipate needs, and stay on top of everything — from keeping the house tidy to managing household supplies and walking the dog. You’re warm, flexible, and know when to be firm with the kids while also creating a fun and structured environment. We need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a great eye for detail, and is willing to pitch in wherever needed. Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Assist with school/activity pick-ups and drop-offs
  • Supervision, playtime, and childcare
  • Manage bedtime routines (3 children, including the baby).
  • Pack school lunches 4-5 days a week.
  • Prep backpacks, clothing, or snacks for school
  • Provide overnight care when parents travel (1-2x weekly).
  • Date night coverage (2x monthly).

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Reset and tidy rooms daily; maintain overall neatness, ensure home is prepped for cleaning services (every other week)
  • Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas
  • Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys)
  • Awareness of household schedules and calendars (skylight calendar)
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding, etc.)
  • Prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and pick ups
  • Supervise or coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g., handymen, cleaners, landscapers)
  • Maintain indoor plants

Inventory & Errands

  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
  • Handle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveries as needed

Meal Support

  • Plan and prep healthy meals/snacks for adults and kids
  • Pack school lunches (4-5x weekly)
  • Prep weekly meals (3-4x weekly)
  • Shop for groceries and meal-related items
  • Follow dietary needs and family preferences (healthy)
  • Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies

Pet Care

  • Feed and walk dog (30-45 minutes)
  • Schedule and coordinate vet, grooming, or daycare appointments
  • Administer medications, if required
  • Keep pet supplies stocked and organized

Vehicle Management

  • Schedule and oversee maintenance, oil changes, and inspections
  • Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Schedule and supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers)
  • Research and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and quotes
  • Serve as primary contact for vendors or guests

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards, etc.)
  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, mudroom)
  • Organize special projects: toy storage, seasonal decorations, gear rotation

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Awareness of family calendars and reminders
  • Handle basic budgeting or receipt tracking for expenses incurred as House Manager
  • Assist with coordination of events, appointments, and guest prep
