Position Overview: Assists in the preparation of meals for hospital patients, employees and visitors. Maintains a clean, sanitary, and efficient kitchen and dining room area by proper cleaning, washing, and stocking. Serves meals to patients, employees, and visitors while embracing our mission of “Patient-Centered Excellence” at all times. |
Major Duties/Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Previews menus and work orders to assist in the preparation of patient/staff/visitor meals with the cook. Wash, cut, and prepare fruits, vegetables, etc. Prepare drinks Make coffee, tea, infused water, etc. Prepare patient trays and load carts. Follows cleaning and restocking schedule for kitchen, dining room, and other designated areas. Washes patient, staff and kitchen dishes. Put away clean dishes. Assist co-workers as needed. Wears appropriate protective equipment. Delivers patient meal trays and interacts with patients/visitors/staff in a friendly and helpful manner. Records temperatures and dates in appropriate logs. Prepares and monitors salad bar in dining room. Assembles drinks, desserts, and other refreshments for special events Follows Dress Code as described in PCHS Policy plus Department Policy. Label and put away inventory and assist in rotating inventory and watching for expiration dates. Works with the Nutritional Services Manager, Dietician, and Administration on tasks and duties assigned or directed. Adheres to the schedule and avoids unscheduled absences. Requests time off following department procedures. Attends in-service and dept meetings. |
Job Qualifications: Experience: Sufficient previous experience preferred, but on-the-job training provided Required Education: High School or equivalent preferred Required Certifications/Registrations: N/A |
Physical Requirements: Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.) Frequent prolonged standing/walking Lifts supplies/equipment Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching Follow Multi-Step Directions Able to read and follow patient orders, menus, and instructions Be a Team Player and foster Teamwork amongst the department (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. |
