What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, shopping, and community participation.
  • Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individual Service Plans (ISP) and behavior support plans.
  • Promote independence, dignity, self-advocacy, and personal choice.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships and create a safe living environment.
  • Provide supervision and guidance while teaching daily living and social skills.
  • Transport and accompany individuals to medical appointments, day programs, community activities, religious services, recreational activities, and family visits.
  • Administer medications and implement prescribed healthcare programs according to training and agency policies.
  • Monitor health, safety, and behavioral concerns and respond appropriately to crises and emergency situations.
  • Report incidents, suspected abuse, neglect, or mistreatment in accordance with agency policies and state regulations.
  • Complete accurate documentation including medication administration records, daily logs, goal tracking, incident reports, health monitoring forms, fire drill logs, seizure records, vehicle logs, and consumer fund documentation.
  • Attend required trainings, competency-based education programs, staff meetings, and licensing activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, DDD regulations, and agency policies.
  • Work collaboratively with Residential Managers, Lead DSPs, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record
  • Ability to read, write, and document effectively in English
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and electronic timekeeping systems
  • Ability to complete required screenings, criminal background checks, and registry clearances
  • Ability to complete required trainings, including CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or in a human services setting
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices

Schedule

  • Full-Time Overnight Position
  • Sunday through Wednesday
  • 11:00 PM - 9:00 AM
  • Weekday Pay Rate: $17.15 per hour
  • Weekend Pay Rate: $18.15 per hour
  • Schedule flexibility may be required based on program and business needs

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed, including lifting over 50 pounds when required
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, twist, stand, and climb stairs
  • Ability to drive agency vehicles and transport individuals safely
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods
  • Ability to operate computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, adaptive equipment, and wheelchair lifts
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
