Position Overview: Independently performs various duties of cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, offices, hallways, and equipment to ensure a safe environment and reduce risks of spread of infection for patients, visitors, and staff.

Major Duties/Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Dusts furniture, woodwork, equipment, and dust mops floors. Polishes and cleans fixtures in utility rooms and bathrooms. Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums. Wet mops rooms, halls, stairways, and public areas. Shampoos rugs and furniture. Cleans vents, fans and other equipment using vacuum machines or appropriate tools. Cleans fixtures, tops or windows, door frames, and high areas using a ladder. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials. Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required. Buffs, strips, waxes and polishes floors. Assists with setup during special events (set up chairs and tables, etc.) Assists with tear down after special events (folds chairs, stores tables appropriately) Assists in hanging drapes and dividers and takes them down for cleaning. Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specified bags or containers. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for new occupant Follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms. Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms. Participates in educational programs and in service meetings. Attends meetings as required.

Job Qualifications: Experience: Relevant previous experience is preferred but on-the-job training provided Education: High School or equivalent preferred Req. Cert./Registration: None required |
Physical Requirements: Moderate physical effort/lifting of supplies/equipment of weights up to 25 lbs., multiple times daily Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching Pushes/pulls/moves moderately heavy equipment/supplies (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.)

Working Conditions: Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals Occasionally works in precarious or high locations (ladders, scaffolding, etc.) Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient elements (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.)
