Workers Supervised: General supervision of physical therapist assistants and support staff 

Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital and clinic departments

Position Overview: Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with musculoskeletal injuries or conditions that limit their movement and function. Develops individualized treatment plans and goals with and for patients.

Major Duties/Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

 

Review patient medical histories. Perform evaluations collecting subjective and objective measurement. Formulate therapy diagnosis and prognosis by interpreting findings. Develop individualized patient treatment plans, monitor progress and adjust as necessary. Outline clear patient goals and expected outcomes. Use appropriate interventions to maximize rehabilitation, habilitation or restorative goals. Implement and adapt established treatment programs. Record patient progress and modify the plan of care if needed. Provide education to patients, family members and caregivers.


Delegate appropriate tasks to Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and support personnel. Provide general supervision to PTAs. Trains and educates PTAs as needed. 

Complete accurate and timely documentation on patients being treated or refusals, cancellations or no shows as encountered. 

Carry out In-Service education when necessary.

Assist other departmental personnel in cleaning up after treatment, preparing patients, and changing linens. Maintain inter and intra-departmental relations at an optimal level. 


Attends and participates in departmental and hospital meetings as requested. 

Job Qualifications: 

Experience: Preferred one year of clinical experience

Required Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree, Masters of Physical Therapy or Bachelor’s of Physical Therapy from a Commission or Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Required Certifications/Registrations: License from Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) 

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements: 

Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 lbs. or more. Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking and considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, & crouching

Motor coordination and manual dexterity

Ability to carry out procedures as outlined

Normal eye sight, with or without corrective lenses

Normal hearing, with or without hearing aid 

Working Conditions:

Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
