The Project Engineer assists and supports the Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities, gathers, and distributes information. The Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

Project Engineer Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with project architects, designers, owners, and field personnel.
  • Responsible for preparing, reviewing, distributing, and tracking Request for Information (RFI) and Submittal packages.
  • Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement
  • May be responsible for bid analysis, constructability reviews, and permit processing.
  • Inspects all work to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Offers technical information to project supervisor to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • General understanding of project budget; may assist with buyouts
  • Monitor and track project quality control metrics and activities on a regular basis, provide timely and accurate quality reports, and raise issues to PM or Superintendent as appropriate.
  • Change Order management, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing action and change orders
  • Maintain accurate contract documents
  • Generation of project punch list and closeout documentation.
  • Update construction schedule based on project team input, Trade Contractor progress and materials delivery
  • Track and inspect material deliveries
  • Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required
  • Attend project meetings, as directed by Project Manager and record meeting minutes
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring others
  • Assist Senior Project Manager
  • Other duties assigned

Project Engineer Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Demonstrated expertise (either through internships or work experience) in commercial projects (i.e. tenant improvements, multi-family and multi-use, corporate and institutional structures)
  • Excellent communications skills required for interaction with vendors, designers, consultants, and clients.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) AutoCAD, Revit, Blue Beam
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience in managing large-scale construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management
  • Experience in managing and supervising construction teams
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Time management skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
