WSP’s Engineered Construction team is growing, and we have opportunities for Entry Level Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians in Phoenix, AZ to perform field testing for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. This position is ideal for individuals beginning their career in construction materials testing and field inspection, with opportunities for training, certification, and professional growth.Â
Your ImpactÂ
- Perform construction materials sampling and testingÂ
- Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications and ACI Concrete Standards.Â
- Prepare and submit accurate written field reports documenting daily activities, observations, and test resultsÂ
- Test and work in accordance with Company safety policiesÂ
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specificationsÂ
- Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sitesÂ
- Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing dataÂ
Who You AreÂ
Required QualificationsÂ
- 0–2 years of construction materials testing or related field experienceÂ
- High School Diploma or equivalent Â
- Valid Driver’s LicenseÂ
- Good driving HistoryÂ
- Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled timesÂ
- Ability to prepare reports and documentationÂ
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsÂ
- Basic knowledge of ExcelÂ
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as requiredÂ
- Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyÂ
Preferred QualificationsÂ
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification or ATTI Field Technician, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframeÂ
- Basic familiarity with construction materials testing, including concrete sampling, density testing, and field inspectionsÂ
- Exposure to construction sites, fieldwork, or hands‑on technical environments (internships, labs, or entry‑level experience)Â
- Willingness to learn, accept direction from senior technicians, and work as part of a field teamÂ
Physical Demands Â
- Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to workÂ
- Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 poundsÂ
- Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehiclesÂ
- Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or coldÂ
