Description

 The primary role of the Account Manager is to obtain new, and strengthen existing, customer relationships by providing tailored, timely and professional refuse and recycling-related customer service to new and existing accounts.  

 Essential Responsibilities 

  1. Increase revenue by managing sales prospects and developing new accounts by establishing business relationships built on trust and excellent customer service.
  2. Retain major accounts by fielding customer inquiries and requests while providing superior, needs-based service and solutions.
  3. Meet sales and retention goals as set by management.
  4. Provide oversight, training and mentorship to junior account manager associates.
  5. Use related computer systems to track sales prospects, establish new service, compile detailed notes and develop sales-related reporting.
  6. Work in conjunction with management, operations, customer service, dispatch and sustainability departments to ensure seamless customer interactions.

                

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 Knowledge of:  

  • Superior customer service, sustainability and sales-related techniques and etiquette.
  • Refuse, recycling and composting-related services and tools.
  • Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Search Engines and Google Maps.
  • Geography of the City of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

 

Ability to:  

  • Actively listen to, and empathize with, customer concerns.
  • Employ de-escalation and conflict-resolution methodologies.
  • Mentor and maintain a positive attitude with customers and coworkers.
  • Proactively establish trust and credibility with customers and coworkers by maintaining accountability.
  • Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers. 
  • Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.
  • Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing. 
  • Learn the products and services offered by Universal Waste Systems, Inc.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice on waste-related information.

  

Education, Training & Experience 

  1. Five years of related experience in waste, recycling or sustainability required.
  2. High school diploma or GED required.
  3. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
