Academy DescriptionĀ 

At Great Hearts Christian Academies, we believe God desires well-educated men and women who have developed the habits of mind and heart of which they are ordered to what is True, Good, and Beautiful and by which they are able to carry on His work. Educating is an act of love and ennobles human dignity. Scholars will be prepared for a lifetime of learning and a lifetime of service to the Lord, the Church, our neighbors, and society. Great Hearts Christian Academies employees are expected to model Christian charity and piety and conduct themselves in a way that confirms their testimony as a believing Christian. Duties and ResponsibilitiesĀ 

Teachers are the most important daily leaders and shapers of intellectual, ethical, and spiritual culture on our campuses. Every teacher is a role model and must always act and speak as one.Ā 

Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to the following:Ā 

  • Create a classroom environment that will feel safe for all students to learn and reach theirĀ fullestĀ potential.Ā 

  • Maintain orderly classrooms.Ā 

  • ProvideĀ timelyĀ and meaningful evaluation/correction of student work.Ā 

  • Engage studentsĀ utilizingĀ the Socratic method.Ā 

  • Lead students through intelligence, charisma, humor, moral integrity, andĀ example.Ā 

  • Fully embrace the school's vision of community, of learning, and of leadership.Ā 

  • PerformĀ additionalĀ assigned campus duties.Ā 

  • Read, know, and support the philosophy, policies,Ā proceduresĀ and other pertinent data of the school as published in the Faculty Handbook and most current Family Handbook.Ā 

  • Follow school policies and procedures for ensuring the safety and security of students on campus.Ā 

  • Provide reasonableĀ assistanceĀ to those students in need of individual help andĀ assistĀ studentsĀ toĀ make-up work after approved absences.Ā 

  • Attend Open Houses, special school events (such as concerts, plays and special presentations) and certain staff meetingsĀ designatedĀ as All Faculty Meetings.Ā 

  • Attend all Great Hearts professional development opportunities, including New Faculty Orientation and the Summit.Ā 

  • Support and enforce theĀ schoolĀ dress and behavior codes and make reasonable efforts to promote the orderly behavior of all students in the school, on the grounds,Ā and atĀ off-campus school activities.Ā 

  • KeepĀ accurateĀ records and make reports asĀ required.Ā 

  • Attend andĀ participateĀ in review meetings with the HeadĀ of School.Ā 

  • Participate in faculty development onĀ early releaseĀ days.Ā 

  • Is an active member of the community of learners, continuing to pursue his or her own professional growth and development.Ā 

  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.Ā

Qualifications, Competencies, and StrengthsĀ 

Education:Ā Associate’s degreeĀ preferred.Ā 

Certifications:Ā Certification is notĀ requiredĀ to teach at any of the Great Hearts Academies. Great Hearts teachers, whether certified or not,Ā demonstrateĀ a commitment to and love for the liberal arts, knowledge of the content area which they will teach, and the capacity to instill knowledge and cultivate virtue in children.Ā 

The ideal candidate will have a commitment to the philosophy and mission of Great Hearts Christos, including, without limitation,Ā publicly supportingĀ the mission and committing to instilling Christian beliefs in Great Hearts ChristianĀ scholars.Ā 

Additional RequirementsĀ 

  • Type of fingerprint clearance: MustĀ possessĀ or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.Ā 

  • Physical functions: Requires butĀ isĀ not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May beĀ requiredĀ to move or position equipment up to 15Ā pounds approximately.Ā
