Essential Job Functions:

The Repair and Overhaul Business Unit Manager provide strategic leadership for enterprise wide. Develop long-term asset management strategies, standardize maintenance practices, drive operational excellence, and ensure maintenance performance aligns with business objectives.

Functions:

  • Develop and execute the Repair & Overhaul business unit's annual and long-term business plans to support growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and overall business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the end-to-end MRO process, including repair planning, material availability, production execution, turnaround time, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Establish and monitor operational objectives and metrics related to turnaround time, on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost, inventory, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop strategies to improve repair cycle time, operational efficiency, capacity utilization, asset availability, and overall business unit performance.
  • Direct business unit budgets, capital planning, cost estimates, and financial performance to ensure the operation meets established profitability objectives.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities related to labor, materials, outside processing, equipment, freight, inventory, and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and execute asset management strategies to maximize equipment reliability, availability, useful life, and return on investment.
  • Drive predictive and preventive maintenance strategies and support the implementation of technology and digital solutions to improve equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements, customer requirements, export control regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, safety, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Lead and ensure completion of Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) related to operational, quality, delivery, equipment, and customer issues.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and establish strategies to improve inventory availability, inventory turns, cost, and obsolescence.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, outside processors, customers, and internal stakeholders to support business unit objectives.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, and other functional departments to ensure successful execution of MRO programs and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for workforce planning, staffing, hiring, training, performance management, and development of personnel within the business unit.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to supervisors, managers, and employees.
  • Review operational capacity and workforce requirements and develop plans to support current and future business demand.
  • Track and report business unit performance, including financial, operational, workforce, quality, delivery, and project metrics, to senior management.
  • Develop and execute capital projects and equipment investments, including business cases, cost justification, implementation, and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Ensure repair orders and production schedules are completed on time and that appropriate resources are available to support customer commitments.
  • Review completed work orders and operational documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, compliance, and adherence to established processes.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime and prevent disruptions to customer delivery schedules.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting complex equipment, process, and operational issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure proper documentation, procedures, work instructions, and processes are established, maintained, and followed by all personnel.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer focus throughout the Repair & Overhaul business unit.
  • Performs other duties as required and is available for overtime as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, MRO, repair, overhaul, and production operations.
  • Strong understanding of FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements and aerospace quality systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with budgets, cost control, capital planning, and P&L management.
  • Knowledge of asset management, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, and maintenance best practices.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and ability to establish effective relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to analyze operational and financial data and use metrics to drive business decisions and improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing and aerospace environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Self-starter capable of solving complex problems with limited supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace manufacturing, MRO, repair, overhaul, or a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership or management experience with responsibility for operations, production, MRO, maintenance, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, costs, capital expenditures, and operational performance.
  • Experience managing an MRO, repair, overhaul, aerospace production, or FAA-regulated operation preferred.
  • Experience with FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience with AS9100 or other aerospace quality management systems preferred.
  • Experience with asset management, equipment reliability, preventive/predictive maintenance, and maintenance optimization preferred.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and working with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations.
  • Experience with capital project development, business cases, and ROI analysis preferred.
