CNC Lathe Setup Technician

Pay: $30.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Overview

Axian Technology is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Technician to join our growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up CNC lathes, producing high-quality precision-machined components, and ensuring efficient production while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC lathes for production according to engineering drawings and work instructions.

  • Install and qualify tooling, fixtures, and workholding.

  • Load and verify CNC programs.

  • Perform first article inspections and make necessary machine offsets.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and process documentation.

  • Use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.

  • Monitor production to ensure parts consistently meet quality requirements.

  • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

  • Work closely with operators, programmers, and quality personnel to improve processes.

  • Maintain accurate setup documentation and complete required production records.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC lathe setup experience.

  • Strong understanding of machining principles and cutting tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and make process adjustments.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred

  • Experience with Citizen Swiss-type lathes.

  • Experience with Doosan Puma mill turn machines.

  • Experience machining aerospace or defense components.

  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls.

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
