Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Retail Construction Project Estimator to join our team. This is a fast-paced, high-volume estimating position responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial and retail construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of direct estimating experience in commercial and/or retail construction, strong knowledge of construction costs and methods, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

This is an in-office position and is not available for remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for commercial and retail construction projects.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents to determine project requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
  • Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure complete and competitive coverage.
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, potential risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare bid packages, proposals, budgets, and supporting estimating documentation.
  • Manage a high volume of estimates and bid opportunities while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, bid records, pricing information, and subcontractor/vendor data.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, and other team members regarding project requirements and pricing.
  • Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations after award.
  • Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, labor costs, subcontractor markets, and commercial construction trends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of estimating experience in commercial and/or retail construction required.
  • Demonstrated experience estimating tenant improvements, retail build-outs, renovations, ground-up construction, or similar commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, methods, and sequencing.
  • Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing complete project estimates.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with construction estimating and takeoff software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard business applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, project managers, and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to estimate accuracy.
