Description

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Family & Community Service, the Community Service Counselor will be the face of Catholic Cemeteries and Funeral Homes to the community. The Community Service Counselor is primarily responsible for making pre-need cemetery interment rites, cemetery merchandise and cemetery services sales for the outside cemetery office. The Community Service Counselor is a commissioned person who makes presentations to individuals from company leads and personal contacts (i.e., telephone, internet, referrals, parish leads, festivals, misc. events, door to door). The Community Service Counselor, with a valid Arizona Life Insurance License, sells preneed funeral products and services funded through our select insurance product.

  • Service and Attitude: It is expected that each employee of DOPCCFH will provide a professional approach and decorum with customers and fellow staff members.
  • Develop leads and set appointments with prospective clients when appropriate.
  • Deliver documents or information to prospective customers when necessary.
  • Meet established product mix ratios while holding aggregate cancellation rate to established levels.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of preneed funeral services and merchandise in keeping with the Order of Christian Funerals.
  • Follow up on letters sent to parishioners either by phone or at the door.
  • Follow up on leads provided by the home office.
  • Follow up on referrals obtained from previous presentation.
  • Complete and submit to Manager of Family & Community Service weekly performance reports.
  • Attend all sales meetings as required.
  • Maintain sales activity necessary to satisfy minimum achievements levels.
  • Strictly adhere to DOPCCFH policies, representing DOPCCFH in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering DOPCCFH’s mission and culture.

Education and Experience (Classification is typically expected to possess.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred or three years cemetery or funeral industry experience. Licensed for funeral insurance sales in the state of Arizona required. Practicing Roman Catholic desired.


Ability and Skills (Classification is typically expected to possess or show potential of satisfactory development when placed in the job.)
